Eight teams, four games, two days. This is the World Cup quarterfinals and it kicks off on July 6th. It is South America against Europe in the first two games. In the first matchup it is France's speed against Uruguay's balance and precision. The second game is Brazil, who have emerged as the heavy favorites of the remaining eight teams against Belgium who proved both how good they can be and how bad they can be in their win against Japan. Injuries and yellow card suspensions mean some key players will be out, none is more important to his team than Edinson Cavani of Uruguay who is racing to be declared fully fit before tomorrow's game. If you can only watch one day of the quarter-finals, you should watch Friday.
In the BISERGS, games are worth 150% what the previous games were worth. Rachel is still leading the BISERGS and she has Uruguay in the early game tomorrow. Her brother-in-law Evan also has Uruguay and is in 5th place. Dawn and Rick are slightly behind Rachel and Evan but that may start to change if France can win tomorrow. In the second game it Levi, Annika, Katee and Arlan have Brazil and are still in the running. If Brazil can continue to solidify its favorites status with a win tomorrow, Levi will be the one to watch and most likely winner of the BISERGS. Belgium, who has given their owners more points than any other team this summer (17), need a huge performance for the whole 90 minutes. If they can do that, then Kelley, Gray and Ari will suddenly find themselves the owners of the new tournament favorites. For Greg, Derek, Emilie, Lindsay, Krista, Sharleen, Josh, Matt S and Isaac are all down to their last teams. If they win, they'll have teams in the World Cup until next weekend, if they lose they are out.
