2000 Views and Day 5

Sometime early this morning the BISERGS 2018 website got its 2000th page view.  500 of those are probably me fixing mistakes and trying to improve the look of the site, but that is still pretty cool.  In 2014 there were just under 4000 page views for the entire competition and we have only had three days of the World Cup so far.  Thanks for your participation and involvement this summer.  If you are on Instagram, there is a group you've all been added to that gets going during the big matches.  You can also follow #BISERGS on Twitter for all of the BISERGS gossip (Rick has a very active imagination) and please post your comments straight onto this website, too.

Today features three games.  Europe battles Asia, then Central America and finally Africa.  In all three matchups the Europeans are favored, but as we've seen in the first few days, there are no givens in Russia this year.  Belgium are one of the tournament favorites and Panama is playing in the World Cup for the first time, so some fear this game could be very lopsided.  England are confident of making a deep run into the World Cup, but if they stumble against Tunisia they will be facing a big challenge to even get out of the group.  Sweden and South Korea are in Germany and Mexico's group.  With the German loss yesterday, both teams see an opportunity that they won't want to miss.  For BISERGSers, this is a potentially big day for Gray with Sweden and Belgium both in action and favored to win and score several goals today.

What to Listen to on Your Way to Work

Today's podcast recommendation is the latest episode of Freakonomics.  It is one of my favorite podcasts and this week's episode is on the World Cup.  Give it a listen and you may become a fan of the show.  It explores the hidden side of everything.
