Day Two Preview

The first day of the BISERGS yielded some big returns for those who backed Russia.  Today, six more teams and an additional 20 BISERGSers will see their first action.  All eyes are on BISERGS World Number 1, Gray Samuelson as he looks for Christiano Ronaldo and Portugal to start his tournament off in style.  Another BISERGS favorite, Krista Rutz, will be fielding two teams today with Egypt and Portugal, but the odds makers think it is Rachel who is most likely to end the day on top as she has favored Uruguay and Spain.  The latest reports indicate that Mo Salah has been cleared to play as he has recovered from his dislocated shoulder just in time.  The entire country of Egypt, plus Axel, Isaac, Kista and Vera are thrilled with that news while Uruguay owners suddenly face a much bigger challenge in their opener.  Isaac also has two teams and makes his BISERGS debut through two North African teams.  Bill and Lindsay are guaranteed some positive points as they hold both sides in the Morocco and Iran match up.  Ivan hopes to move up with Spain's help after a very disappointing dive into negative territory yesterday and his youngest brother Axel is optimistic about improving his family's early misfortune with two teams of his own.  Our two youngest participants both share Morocco and Ari and Anita are hoping to get a good result out of their first ever BISERGS match.  Past BISERGS winners Carol Barrera and Sharleen Samuelson are taking the patient approach and will not be fielding their teams until later, in Carol's case much later.  Her first match won't be until the Germans play on Sunday.

As for the teams on the field, Uruguay is hoping Luis Suarez decides to score goals instead of bite opponents this year.  The past two world cups have seen Uruguay's most famous player end his tournament early for red card violations.  Morocco has hopes of sneaking out of a difficult group, but that looks nearly impossible without a victory today.  Iran has been overlooked by almost everyone, but they qualified for the tournament by completing an amazing 10 games without allowing a single goal.  That is 900 minutes and their hopes this summer rest in maintaining that long defensive run.  Everyone is wondering how Spain will respond to a coaching change just two days before today's match.  Both teams are expected to advance to the next round, so today's winner (if there is one) will be very confident of clinching the number one spot from Group B.

  1. Uruguay's late goal puts James alone on the top of the leader board after two matches. Is Barrera dominance set to continue through a new generation? Great start James!

    1. Oops, just realized there is a problem with my calculator already. I’ll fix it after dinner. Sorry Uruguay owners.

  2. Oh, that was heartbreaking for the Morocco fans here in Abu Dhabi and for that poor guy that put the ball in his own net.
