From Heathrow with Love

Today's blog post comes from the departure lounge in London.  Thanks to a very good free WiFi connection, I was able to watch some highlights of matches from the last two days and get online to maintain the website.

Maybe Russia are for real.  Denis Cheryshev is tied with
Cristiano Ronaldo for the most goals this summer.
The second round of the World Cup has begun and half of a burning question has been answered.  The question was, is Russia actually quite good or are Saudi Arabia horrible?  Last night in Russia, the home team became the first team to book their spot in the second round.  Egypt had hoped to make some noise, but they are left with zero points after two games and their only hope of advancing depends on a huge Saudi upset of Uruguay in today's second game.  Even if that happens, the road to advancement for Egypt is nearly impossible.  The second half of the question above will be answered today.  Can the most talked about strike pair in the tournament, Suarez and Cavani top the five goals that Saudi Arabia conceded against Russia or will Uruguay be shut down like they nearly were by the Egyptians in the opening round.

The thrilling opening to Group B saw the 3 -3 draw between Spain and Portugal which featured an amazing strike by Nacho and a hat-trick by Cristiano Ronaldo.  Iran sits on top of the group after their 1 -0 win over Morocco, but their 990 minute steak of not allowing a goal will be seriously tested by the Spaniards.  Morocco will be eliminated from the World Cup if they can't get a win or at least a draw against Portugal.  That is a tall order, but they will be inspired by the many upsets that have happened in other groups this summer.

Last nights results put Russia's owners back on the front foot.  James streaked into 2nd position, Annika moved back up to fourth and Arland and Doug moved into 9th and 10th respectively based on the hosts continued success.  Egypt seems to be the curse of the summer as three of the bottom four BISERGSers all have them in their cadre.  Egypt is bogging down Krista too as she dropped out of the top 10 with their second loss, but James has overcome their disappointment on the strength of his other teams so far.
Which of these BISERGSers will end round two on top?
